Velscope?

Velscope, or the VELscope®️ Vx Enhanced Oral Assessment System, is a non-invasive, hand-held tool that uses natural tissue fluorescence to help us detect abnormalities in the oral cavity. The device shines a blue light in the mouth, which excites the molecules of the soft tissues, causing them to glow. Any abnormal tissue will typically not fluoresce as brightly as normal tissue, which means we can identify potential issues before they become serious. The Velscope is used by our dentists at our dental office to detect dental issues like early signs of oral cancer. By using a special light, the device reveals abnormalities in the tissue of the mouth.
