A dental crown is used to protect, reinforce, and improve the appearance of a tooth that has been damaged by decay or trauma. A crown is a long-lasting, natural-looking covering that is custom-made to fit your complete tooth. Dental crowns have traditionally been produced in a dental laboratory, but with technological advancements in dentistry, you can now have same-day dental crowns without the burden of repeated office visits.
PlanScan provides cutting-edge dental technology that enables dentists to design and manufacture ceramic dental restorations right in their offices. PlanScan crowns are made of high-quality ceramic material and resemble natural teeth in appearance, feel, and function. The ability to design and fabricate dental restorations on-site reduces the time it takes to get permanent crowns.
What is Involved in the Procedure for Getting PlanScan - Same-Day Crown?
Regardless of the dental technology employed, most same-day dentistry operations follow a similar pattern. We'll start by scanning the interior of your mouth with a handheld intraoral scanner. This scanner creates a 3D digital image of your mouth and individual teeth, saving you the time and effort of dealing with goopy impression materials.
The photos are then submitted to a PlanScan CAD/CAM Restoration System for processing. A computer model of the crown is built here, which is custom-made to fit your mouth flawlessly. The crown will then be made in-house in a matter of minutes.
While your tooth replacement is being created, we will clean and prepare your injured tooth for crown implantation. The crown will then be evaluated for fit and proper placement, and if required, modified.
We will use dental adhesive to permanently bond it in place after assuring that the fit is correct. Without having to wait for a third-party lab to fabricate your dental prosthesis, you can have a long-lasting and robust ceramic crown in only one appointment.
What are the Advantages of PlanScan Crowns?
- PlanScan employs a proprietary ceramic substance that has been proven to be more robust and tougher. Your ceramic crown will last longer and be less prone to breaking as a result of this.
- PlanScan is more precise. The portable intraoral camera is exceptionally accurate, resulting in a tighter fit and improved patient comfort when the crown is placed.
- Renderings and digital photos are processed quickly, resulting in a shorter overall treatment time and less time spent waiting in the dentist's chair. Thanks to advanced computer technology.
