Human teeth are expected to last a lifetime. But certain events such as accidents, injury, trauma, or eating hard foods make them chip or crack. Today, cracked teeth have become a common dental problem among people of all ages.
Cracked teeth can be of any type – craze lines, fractured cusp, cracks extending to your gum line, split teeth, vertical root fracture, or any other. In either case, it is essential to visit our clinic and get suitable treatment to restore their shape, size, appearance, and functionality.
What is the Treatment of Cracked Teeth?
There are many treatment options available for cracked or chipped teeth. The suitable procedure depends upon the severity of the damage. If only a little piece of enamel is broken, restoration can be done in one visit only. But if your teeth are badly broken or cracked, you may want to visit our clinic multiple times for restoration.
Dental Filling and Bonding
Also known as bonding, this is a restorative procedure for chipped tooth enamel. We will schedule an appointment with you and repair the damage using a dental filling. If your front teeth require restoration, we may use a procedure known as bonding which involves putting a tooth-colored composite resin to match the appearance of your natural teeth.
Dental filling or bonding is a hassle-free procedure. We etch the surface of your teeth with a gel and roughen it so that the filling sticks to it. After this, we will apply a tooth-colored filling to your teeth and then shape them to appear more natural.
Dental Crowns
They are a popular restorative option for chipped or broken teeth, and we recommend them when a large piece of your teeth cracks or breaks off. We use ceramic or porcelain crowns to mask your broken teeth. Crowns are made using other materials as well, such as metal, all-resin, porcelain fused to metal, and others.
Dental Veneers
This procedure is primarily used on your front chipped or broken teeth. Veneers are thin, wafer-like shells made using porcelain or resin composite that we put on your chipped teeth to restore their appearance. Dental veneers are also used in case of badly stained teeth.
Root Canal Therapy
If your teeth are cracked to the extent of exposing the teeth' pulp, we may opt for this procedure. Root canal therapy involves removing the damaged or infected pulp of your broken teeth, cleaning and disinfecting the area, and then sealing it with a dental filling. In some cases, we also perform dental crowns after a root canal.
