Cracked Teeth

We expect our teeth to last a lifetime but certain events such as accidents, injury, trauma, or eating hard foods can cause tooth chips or cracks. In fact, cracked teeth are a common dental issue among patients of all ages.

Cracks in teeth can vary from craze lines to fractured cusps, cracks extending to the gum line, split teeth, vertical root fractures, or others. No matter the type, if you have a cracked tooth, it is essential to visit our clinic and get suitable treatment to restore its shape, size, appearance, and functionality.

What Is the Treatment for Cracked Teeth?

There are many treatment options available for cracked or chipped teeth. The suitable procedure depends on the severity of the damage. If only a little piece of enamel is broken, the tooth can typically be restored in only one visit. But if your teeth are badly broken or cracked, you may have to visit our clinic multiple times for restoration.

The most common treatments for cracked teeth include:

    Dental Filling and Bonding

Dental filling and bonding are common restorative procedures for chipped or cracked tooth enamel. After assessing the severity of the damage, the dentist may use a filling to restore the part of the tooth that is missing. If your front teeth require restoration, we may use bonding. Bonding involves restoring the tooth using a tooth-colored composite resin that matches the appearance of natural enamel.

Dental filling and bonding are hassle-free procedures. To perform them, we etch the surface of your teeth with a gel and roughen it so that the filling or bonding material adheres to it. After that, we apply the tooth-colored filling or bonding material to the teeth and shape them to create a natural-looking restoration.

    Dental Crowns

Crowns are a popular restorative option for chipped or broken teeth, and we recommend them when a large piece of tooth cracks or breaks off. Crown mask and strengthen broken teeth. They are made using materials such as ceramic, porcelain, metal, all-resin, porcelain fused to metal, and others.

    Dental Veneers

This procedure is primarily used on front chipped or broken teeth. Veneers are thin shells made using porcelain or resin composite that we place on your chipped teeth to restore their appearance. Dental veneers are also used in case of badly stained teeth.

    Root Canal Therapy

If your teeth are cracked to the extent of exposing the dental pulp, we may opt for this procedure. Root canal therapy involves removing the damaged or infected pulp, cleaning and disinfecting the area, and then sealing it with a dental filling. In some cases, we also recommend dental crowns after a root canal.
